Welcome to Rose Cottage
At Rose Cottage you can enjoy authentic pub food and drinks, function spaces and live entertainment amongst the historic venue est. 1870
Rose Cottage has a rich and complex history dating back to the 1870s, making it one of the oldest hospitality venues in Canberra. It started out its humble roots as part of the Tuggeranong Station owned by Andrew Cunningham, then later sold to Richard Harris in 1875. The first cottages built by Harris remain today almost 150 years later.
Rose Cottage has endured the years resiliently, gathering character with each passing owner leaving their unique fingerprint. From sheep paddock to bus stopover, the cottage has had many different identities. Formerly known as Sweet Hills Estate, theories about where Rose Cottage got its current name from include; a rose garden grown by Harris’s wife Margaret and a local schoolteacher named Miss Rose who was an early occupant.
